Since I'm slacking with the posts again, I'll sum up the last two weekends in this post.
~Thanksgiving~
We spent the first part of Thanksgiving with the Betz side of the family. We had a good time visiting with everyone, and also enjoyed some great food. After we left there we came home, packed our things into the Trailblazer and headed to Virginia with the rest of my family to visit Katie and Adam. Talk about a CRAPPY drive!! If you remember it was pouring down rain that day, and we were lucky enough to be driving with it!! We drove to Hurricane, W.V. (about 4-5 hours), and stayed at a hotel. Friday morning, we drove the remaining 5-6 hours to Yorktown, VA. When we got to Katie and Adam's house, we were able to visit with Adam's oldest brother, Phil, before he flew back to Indianapolis. (Adam's parents and Phil were visiting until Friday.) Friday evening was spent at the Wickizer house, and it included a Thanksgiving supper.
Keeping busy on the way down
She had to say "CHEESE" when she saw the camera :)
Happy Thanksgiving!
Owen took this picture! I think he did a pretty good job! :)
Since Adam won't be here for Christmas, we gave him his gift early. It's a Kindle case, light, and gift card to go with the Kindle his parents got him.
Saturday, after breakfast, we headed back to the Wickizers' house. They took us to the base and shop where Adam works. (you have to have a military ID to get in, so they had to drive us.) Adam showed us the EOD truck, the bomb suit they have to wear, and the robots they use. He took Alvin, Owen, Adam, Addison, and mom to see some of the fighter jets (only six people would fit in the truck). Owen loved seeing the jets!! He talked about them the rest of the day. Afterwards, we all went back to the hotel, and ordered pizza. After we ate, Katie and Adam left to finish up some things that needed to be done before Adam left, and just to spend some time together. We tried to take the kids swimming, but the water was FREEZING!! They splashed around for a little awhile, until we told them it was time to get out. We went back to the rooms, so the kids could take some much needed naps. Katie came back over after Adam left, and after the kids woke up we all headed back to her house. Emily and I helped Katie pack up the items she will be needing while back home, and Alvin and Adam loaded them into her vehicle and our vehicle.
The bomb suit....it's REALLY heavy!! I know because I tried to hold it!! :)
The helmet they also have to wear....it's pretty heavy too.
Avari checking out some of the things they have recovered.
Adam showing us how the robots they use work.
Owen playing with the robots.

Some of the fight jets!
Owen thought they were "So Cool!!"
Playing at the park by Katie and Adam's townhouse.
Sunday, after breakfast, we loaded up, and headed home. The kids did AWESOME on the 12 hour drive! Thanks to the DVD player, coloring books, the scenery, and naps, and only had to make a few bathroom/gas stops.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! We are grateful that we were able to spend it with family, and get to see Adam before he left for six months. Please keep Katie and Adam in your prayers, as it's going to be a long, hard 6 months for them. Also, please pray that Adam returns home from Afghanistan safely, in good health, and unharmed. THANK YOU ADAM for serving our country, and helping to protect our freedom!!
~Schum Christmas~
This past weekend, Alvin had to work Saturday night, so the kids and I went to my parents' house for awhile. Adi and Kenley were there, while Emily and Adam were Christmas shopping, so the kids at a lot of fun playing together.
Sunday afternoon, we had the Schum Chrismas party. It was fun getting together with the extended family. Unfortunately, some of the cousins couldn't make it, but hopefully, we will be able to get together with them over the holidays! I can't believe Christmas is almost here!!
