Snow Day, Cookies, & Hartings Christmas

Thursday, I got a snow day, just like the schools do!  Since North Spencer was closed because of the ice, I didn't have three of the kids!  This normally happens with snow days because two of the kids' mom is a sub, and  the other kid only comes when they have school, but this time, Emily happened to be flexed off, so I didn't have Addison and Kenley.  It was nice having a day with no kids, but my own.  We cleaned the house (and the basement) and played.  The kids even got to go outside with Alvin.  They didn't stay out very long because they kept slipping on the ice...go figure!  They wanted to go out though, and had fun while they were outside.

Our little taste testers!

Friday evening, we went to the Schipp house for our annual Christmas cookie making.  Alvin was off work because he has a vacation day to use up yet, so he was able to come along.  While the girls made cookies, the guys watched TV, and the kids had fun playing.  The kids even helped us make some cookies, and were great taster testers! :)

Saturday, we had the Hartings Christmas party.  It was a lot of fun, and we were able to stay for lunch and supper.  The siblings got together and rented the Otwell Community Center.  It was a really nice place, and has an old gym attached to it, which was great for the kids and the guys.  They were all able to run around, play basketball, football, and cornhole.  I'm pretty sure everyone had a great time, and were worn out by the time it was over.
How do you keep a 3 & 4 year old entertained?  Give them a Rubik's cube!
Owen and Gavin played with this for awhile before we left.

Sunday, after church we went to McDonald's and Walmart.  Santa was a Walmart, so we tried to get the kids picture with him.  Owen went right up to him, and sat on his lap, and got a candy cane.  Avari went right up to him, when she realized that he would give her a candy cane.  She had absolutely no interest in sitting on his lap though.  Oh well....maybe next year.  At least she wasn't completely scared of him...as long as he has something to give her! :)  After Walmart, we stopped by Alvin's parents' house for a little while.  Danny, Nettie, and Lance were there, so we also got to visit with them.  We spent the rest of the evening at home.
