Halloween Camping

This past weekend, we went camping at Lincoln.  The month of October are Halloween weekends.  Every Saturday night, from 5:30-7:30 (fast time), they have trick-or-treating.  They also have different activities around  the park that the kids can do.
It was a cold weekend, but we all still had a lot of fun.

Friday evening, the kids had a blast playing in the ditch that ran behind our campsite.  I don't think that they even cared that is was pretty chilly.  Us adults preferred to stay closer to the fire.  This time we did our food a little different that the other times.  We decided to make different soups/stews and share them.  Friday, April and Thad made chili.  It was really good.
After we ate, the kids spend some time in our camper, warming up, and watching a movie.  It didn't take long before most of them fell asleep.

Saturday morning, we headed to Avari's soccer game.  She did pretty good, at the beginning.  Then she got mad because "the ball wouldn't come to her."  Haha  Yep, that's our little girl...the real athlete. :-D  Once again, she did like playing goalie, and she stopped several balls that came her way.
After soccer, we stopped by the house to get the kids' Halloween costumes.  Then we headed back to Lincoln, to make lunch for everyone.  Our soup was the one that we all love, taco soup.  While we made that, the kids, once again, had fun playing in, and around, the ditch.  Luckily, the sun came out Saturday afternoon, so it was a little warmer.
Late that afternoon, my parents came down to visit for a little bit.  Early that evening, the Schipps, the K. Boeglins, the D. Boeglins, and Thad's family came down do join in on the trick-or-treating fun.  Before we went trick-or-treating, Margie and Steve made beef stew, we warmed up our taco soup, and April and Thad warmed up their chili.  Everyone else brought something down to go with it.  Once our bellies were full, we headed out for candy.  The kids had a lot of fun looking at other campers decorations, and of course getting candy.
Since Owen was a hunter, I found a mounted deer head for Alvin.
I was going to dress up as a fairy with Avari, but it was too cold for me. :)

Sunday morning, we packed up and headed home.  We unloaded some things, and then headed to Holiday World.  It was the last day they were opened for the season, and we hadn't been to any of the Halloween weekends yet.  We didn't do everything, but we did do everything that the kids wanted to do.  We listened to Gourdon the Talking Pumpkin, tell a story.  We watched the Graveyard Smash singing show.  We also took a hayride to the junior corn maze, where Owen led us all the way through.  The kids also played in the corn pit for a little bit, and we rode a few rides.  Easton even rode the Turkey Whirl for the first time.  He loved it too!!  I was a little surprised at how much he loved it, I thought it would scare him at first, not it didn't.
One nice thing about going on the last day of the season, is that we were told to take as many of the pumpkins and gourds that we wanted.  This worked out great because we never had a free weekend to take the kids to a pumpkin patch, to pick a pumpkin.  They each picked found a pumpkin that they liked, and that was all we took.  You should have seen some people.  They had strollers and wagons full of pumpkins.
Going through the hay bale maze.

Owen really liked playing in the corn...imagine that!
Easton liked the slide.
And so did Avari.

He insisted on holding it!

To top off our fun weekend, the kids loved that they got to stay up late with daddy.  Since Owen and Avari were on Fall Break, we let them stay up to play and watch a movie.  They love doing that.
