Annual Camping Trip

As most of you know, my family has been camping at the Lincoln family cabins the third weekend of May for around 20 years now. We had to move it to Mother's Day weekend this year because Katie is graduating from Purdue this weekend. Luckily, it didn't rain as much as it was supposed to. We went down and Thursday, and had a nice evening. Luckily when it rained on Friday, the kids were taking naps, so we just stayed in the cabin until they woke up. Before the rain on Friday, Emily, April, Katie, and I took the kids for a walk. Friday, after the rain, dad took Owen and Adi outside, while he got the fire started for supper. Well, they found all the mud puddles left from the rain, and had a blast playing in them. After supper, a DNR guy came to the cabins with a snake for the kids to pet. To my surprise, Owen didn't hesitate to touch it. Saturday, the girls walked with the kids to the Nature Center, while the guys rode their bikes there. They all had fun looking at all the animals, insects, and reptiles. On the way back, we stopped by the beach store for ice cream, something that we always did when we were younger. After the kids took their naps, we walked to the Lincoln Boyhood home and farm. Barbara, Wes, and Aubrey, as well as Nick, Lindsey, and Jillian Healy, as went with us there. Sunday, we packed up and came home. Avari did very well, with her first camping trip. She didn't get to go with us on the walks, but I think she had fun hanging out with grandma and grandpa while we were gone. She was able to be outside most of Saturday, and had fun just looking around at everything.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY....a little late. I hope that all you mother's had a great day. We didn't do much. We unpacked, and then went to Alvin's parent's house for a little bit. After that, we went to Homestead for supper. Adam bought an ice cream cake, so we went to their house after that.

AVARI UPDATE.....Avari had her 2 month check-up on Thursday. She now weighs 11 lbs 13 oz and is 23 inches long. She is in the 75th percentile for both. She is a lot more alert now, and likes to smile and tries "talking" all the time. Now if only we could get the sleeping through the night down...that would be really nice:)

Here are some pictures from our weekend of camping.
