This year, Owen and Avari both decided to participate in Ferdinand's Little Miss and Mister Heimatfest Pageant. Avari was all for it. As soon as Owen brought the paper home from school, Avari said that she wanted to be in it, even though she didn't know exactly what it was. Haha Owen didn't want anything to do with the pageant at first. He told me he didn't want to be in it, before I even asked him. After hearing that there were all 2 boys in the pageant, and realizing that they were both in his class, he decided that he wanted to join. Addison was also in the pageant again this year. They had 4 practices before the pageant. At each one they practiced what they would be doing the evening of the pageant, which was on Sunday, June 17.
Owen, Avari, and Addison didn't place in the pageant, but they all did a great job! We are very proud of all of them! Avari loves this kind of thing, but for Owen, this was a BIG step. If you know him, you know how quiet and shy he can be. For him to just get up on stage, in front of a room full of people, was a pretty big accomplishment. They both said that they want to do it again next year, so they must have had a good time.

So proud of all three of them!
This past weekend was the Heimatfest. We went on Friday evening to watch the Lip Sync contest. Saturday afternoon, the Schipps came over to go swimming. That evening we went back to the Heimatfest, so that Owen and Avari could do the Kiddie Tractor Pull. They were both in the 46-60 weight class, with Avari weighing in at 46 lbs and Owen at 55 lbs. Avari ended up winning 2nd place...not bad for being at the very bottom of her weight class! She was so excited, and had to show everyone her ribbon. :-)
This year is the 150th anniversary of the Ferdinand Farmers Insurance Agency. They brought in the Kentucky Headhunters for a concert that night at the Heimatfest. It also marked the kick off for Ferdinand's 175th Celebration next year. Alvin's parents, Danny, Nettie, and Lance, Ann, Duane, and Bryce, and one of Alvin's aunts and uncles, and some of his cousins were all there to watch them, so we sat with them during the concert. I must say, it was a pretty good concert.

Owen won a water gun at one of the games, and Easton couldn't resist shooting himself with water.
