Swim Lessons / Shutdown / 4-H Fair

Besides camping and birthday parties, the month of July also included swim lessons, the Dubois County 4-H Fair, and Alvin's summer shutdown.
From July 15-26, Owen and Avari took swim lessons at the Huntingburg City Pool.  Adi and Kenley also went.  This was their first year going here, and they really enjoyed it, and learned a lot.  I liked that each kid had his/her own teacher, so it was a lot more one-on-one teaching.  At the end of each class, they got to jump off the diving board and go down the slide, which I'm pretty sure is what the kids looked forward to the most. ; -)  Another nice thing about taking them to the Huntingburg Pool was that Easton was allowed to play in the kiddie pool during the older kids' swim lessons.  It definitely helped with keeping him from wanting to go into the big pool.  The kids will definitely be going back again next.

July 15-19, was Alvin's summer shutdown.  Once again he it coincided with the Dubois County 4-H Fair.  We were all happy about that because then he could go to the Fair with us.  He did have to work a few days, but at least it was during the day, and not at night, like normal.  This year he was also lucky enough to go to some of the kids' swim lessons during the first week.  It was definitely a busy week, but I'm pretty sure he still enjoyed his time off of work.
On Monday, we met April, Thad, and the boys at the rodeo that was at the 4-H fair.  It was a good, but VERY hot rodeo and all the kids really enjoyed it.  We stayed until intermission, and then headed up the main area to get some food, and let the kids play on the Farm Equipment, which they love doing every year!  We had to walk through the grandstand arena to get to our car, so we were able to watch the end of the rodeo too.

We have to get a picture on a Massey!

On Wednesday evening, we headed to the 4-H Fair again.  This time we were meeting the Schipps and the Boeglins to check out the animals and exhibits.  We also watched a magician while we ate supper.  (Thanks to Nettie for reminding me of what time the show was.)  I really enjoy taking the kids to the fair because I have gone for as long as I can remember.  The kids seem to really like checking out all of the exhibits and animals.  Owen's favorite exhibits are the Lego displays and the farm displays.  Avari and Easton enjoy looking at the animals the most.

On Thursday, we made our weekly summer trip to Holiday World.  Alvin had been going with us almost every week this summer because he finally decided to get a season pass too.  Unlike most weeks, where he comes with us, and then leaves for work, this week he had to work during the day, so he met us at Holiday World after work.

On Friday evening, we headed to Spring Mill for a weekend of camping (as mentioned in an earlier post).

On Friday, July 12, Emily and I took the kids to the park, since it was a nice evening.  They all really like the park, and had a lot of fun playing on the playground, and running the bases.

Emily got Easton to run the bases, by telling him they were racing, and she was going to beat him. :)
