Happy Birthday Avari Grace!

It's hard to believe that Avari is 2 years old already!!  I really can't believe how fast time goes!!  She has learned so much this past year.  She talks nonstop, and is great at forming sentences.  She is also good at asking questions...and lots of them!  Avari knows almost all of her colors and shapes, and can count to 4.  Sometimes she even starts at 6 and counts to 10.  She is definitely our Little Miss Independent!  She thinks she can do almost everything and doesn't need help.  She also thinks she can do (and wants to do) everything Owen does.  She is also a lot more stubborn than Owen.  Once she has her mind set on something, it is extremely hard to change her mind!  We are definitely realizing how different two kids can be!  She is still doing good with the potty training, but still has a setback every now and then.

This past weekend we celebrated Avari's birthday.
Friday night, Katie, Emily, and Addison went with me and the kids to Walmart to get Avari's ears pierced!  She did great considering we only had one person there to do it, instead of two.  She sat on my lap and I held her head still, while Katie kept her attention focused on the cat game she has on her phone, and Emily took the pictures...gotta love sisters! :)  She cried as soon as the lady pierced her first ear, but she stopped by the time we made it to the door.  We went to McDonalds afterwards, which made everything better.  After we ate, we went back to Walmart, so Emily could do her shopping.

Saturday morning, Owen had his Bitty Basketball game.  He has really been enjoying it this year, and has been doing really good.  It is so cute watching all the little kids play.  That afternoon, I went to my cousin, Alicia's baby shower, with mom and Katie.  It was a nice shower, and she got a lot of cute items.  Afterwards, we went to Walmart to get Avari's birthday cupcake cake.  The rest of the night was spent at home making food and getting the house ready for Avari's birthday party.

Sunday, we celebrated Avari's 2nd birthday!  We let her pick her birthday theme, and she was so excited about her Strawberry Shortcake party!!  She had a great time playing with Owen and all her cousins!  She loved blowing the candle out on her cake so much that she couldn't wait until we sang "Happy Birthday" to blow it out.  I think we had to relight it 2-3 times. :)  She wasn't too excited about opening her presents, mainly because she wanted to play with every one as soon as she opened it. :)  Over all, I think everyone had a great time.  Avari would also like to thank everyone for her gifts, and for coming to her party.

Since Wednesday was her birthday, we had to leave her decorations up until then.  Seriously, she fussed when I started taking them down.  We had a little party in the afternoon, with the babysitting kids.  That evening, my family came over for homemade pizza and birthday cookies.  Again, she had a lot of fun blowing out her candles, as soon as we lit them.

Avari had her 2-year check-up Thursday, and everything checked out great!  She weighs 29 lbs (90th percentile) and is 37" tall (100th percentile).  Looks like we will definitely have another tall kid...go figure! :)

It has been a lot of fun watching Avari grow from and infant into toddler.  We can't wait to see what she will continue to learn and do, in this coming year!
