Relay For Life/Special Visitors/Swim Lessons

Ok, I know this is a little late, but better late then never, right?!? :)  Anyways, most of you know that June 4 & 5 was the Dubois County Relay For Life.  It was the 15th anniversary for Relay in Dubois County!!  We have been in it since the beginning, and it's hard to believe that it's been 15 years already!!  This year's theme was "Relay Under the Big Top", so they had circus themed decorations and activities.  Owen and Avari went with me Friday and Saturday because Alvin had to work Friday night.  They had fun walking (and riding) around the track, and playing with the other kids.  Saturday morning, Owen and Adi had fun participating in the kiddie tractor.

That weekend, we also had some very special visitors!  My great-uncle and great-aunt, Donny and Pearl Hartings, were in town from Texas!  Margie and Steve were nice enough to have everyone at their house.  It was great seeing Donny and Pearl.  They also went to Ohio to visit my great-aunt Mart.  I hope that they have a safe trip back to Texas this week.

Sunday afternoon, Alvin had to put in hay, so the kids and I hung out at home.  After their naps, we went to my parents house for supper.  Alvin joined us there, after he was done with hay.  It was a relaxing end to a busy, but great weekend, with family and friends.

Swim Lessons
Owen started taking swim lessons on June 8.  He is taking the two week course at Holiday Village with Addison, Gavin, and Jillian.  It has been very interesting so far.  He does good in the baby pool, but isn't too fond of the big pool yet.  He is warming up to it though.  The first time he didn't want to do anything in the big pool, but Monday night he actually swam to the pool wall by himself...of course he thought I was holding onto his swim trunks. ;)  He is learning though, so that's what counts.  He is getting really good at floating on his back, doing the "alligator walk" (walking on his hands with his legs out), and kicking.  It will be interesting to see how comfortable he gets in the big pool.
