Relay For Life/ 3 Months Old

This weekend was Relay For Life. It started at 6pm on Friday and ended at noon on Saturday. It was a lot of fun and we raised $149,712.16 for the American Cancer Society. Our family has had a team for 14 years (since Dubois County started Relay), and we look forward to it every year. This year we had the kids with us. A lady commented that she remembers when we were younger and running around and that it's neat that we are now bringing our kids with us. The kids had fun running on the track, and playing in the grass. I think that we may have some future Relayers on our hands. :) Our team won the top fundraising award for a "family and friends team" for raising $2,000. I'm pretty sure that we are the only family/friends team left, but it's still nice to be recognized for our efforts. Saturday night we went to Kelli Foster and Jarred Lampert's wedding reception. It was a very nice wedding. Kelli looked beautiful, so did you, Shalyn. :p Mom and dad watched Avari for us because we figured that she would have more fun there, than at the reception. Owen had fun playing with Addison, Kennedy, Colin, and Madison, especially when we went outside. Sunday, mom, Emily, Katie, and I went to Evansville, so Alvin got to have the kids by himself. Everyone seemed to survive it. ;) That evening, mom, dad, and Katie came up and we watched Owen play outside.

Avari Update....Avari turned 3 months old on Tuesday. She smiles all the time and likes to coo and make other sounds. She hasn't rolled over yet, but she will roll on her side, and move until she is laying sideways on her floor gym. Today, she laughed for the first time, it was soo cute. She finally started sleeping through the night a couple of weeks ago, which I really like. :) She loves to look around and watch Owen and Addison. If you want her to look at you, you have to lay her down, otherwise she is too busy looking at everything, but you.
Team #88 Hartings Angels - (l-r) Aden, Avari, Owen, me, Emily, Adi, April, Gavin, Katie, Brooke, Chase, Margie, Janelle, and Kylee. Shalyn and Barbara were also on the team, but weren't there at the time of the picture.
The theme for Relay was "Relay Around the World". Each team picked a country that does Relay for Life to decorate their campsite. We had Jamaica. Our Banner said "Jamaican Me Crazy For Relay." Our sign said "Feel the Rhythm. Feel the Rhyme. Come on Jamaica, It's Bobsleigh Time." (from the movie Cool Runnings). That's a bobsled too, not a big shoe, like some people thought. :)

All the walking must have worn Owen out.

  1. I enjoy reading everyone's blogs and looking at the pictures. 'm sorry wasn't able to come in to the relay to see all of you but I know Barbara enjoyed spending time with all of you and we enjoyed spending time with both Aubrey and Barbara.

I had arthroscopic surgery on my left knee yesterday afternoon(Thursday, 6/4) and it is already feeling better than it had for the past several months.

In case you haven't heard yet. Mary Brelage is now at Brookside in the assisted living section. She moved up there yesterday. If any of you have the time when you are in town, I'm am sure she would be glad to see you.

    Love,
    Deb
